Air Travel

The company provides round-trip air travel to and from the vessel, originating at the major airport closest to the Officer's place of residence and returning to that same airport upon completion of the contract.

Hotel Accomodations

The company provides hotel accomodations when traveling for business purposes. You can find the list of hotels that you most likely will be booked at in the this Excel spreadsheet, though this list is not definitive and is subject to change without notice.

Ground Transportation

A Transportation Provider will be at the airport to greet you and provide your transportation to the ship. You will be advised of the Provider's name prior to leaving so you can identify them as they wait for you to disembark the plane. Occasionally, something unforeseen may arise that causes the transportation provider to (at your final destination) to miss your arrival. Having their name and telephone number will enable you to call them if you don't see them onsite.

Officer Profile

Please fill out and return the Officer Profile Form to the Air/Sea Department before you leave for your new contract. Doing so expedites the booking process and enables us to satisfy individual officer requirements such as diets and seat preferences, when possible.

Travel Itinerary

Holland America Line uses Sabre to book  travel online, through the www.virtuallythere.com/ web site. You can visit this website to view up-to-the minute travel information.

Air travel is booked based on the best available fare using established contracted carriers. Requests for particular carriers/airlines, departure times, seat assignments or special meals are not allowed.

We suggest employees in possession of airline tickets reconfirm their flights directly with the airline within 48 hours prior to their scheduled departure. If the ticket is not available for pickup, the employee should contact their Manning Agency or the Seattle Air/Sea Department for assistance.

Travel Emergencies

If you experience a problem with your air ticketing or a flight delay/cancellation after hours, please call our after hours emergency team at (206) 262-5800.

This number should be called before making any arrangements on your own for hotel accommodations, flight changes, or ground travel.
