Hard work and dedication are recognized by departmental supervisors using our Performance Appraisal System and may result in a Promotion Recommendation. Job advancement to more senior ranks within the same department is determined based entirely on merit and performance. Promotion is neither guaranteed nor automatic. It may take multiple tours of duty in one rank before a promotion can be given.
Besides the regular feedback and coaching you get from your management team, there are formal performance review systems. Officers are reviewed at the end of each contract based on goals and objectives set forth during the beginning of each contract. Your management team will give you instructions for the specific duties you have been assigned to perform, however you will find there are plenty of other onboard training opportunities designed to help you make the most of your time and to advance in your career.
