Direct Deposit Setup Before You Leave

The SEAwire program enables officers working under a Seagoing Employment Agreement (SEA) to have their paychecks automatically deposited into their home country bank accounts. Officers who are already paid directly through HAL Beheer or Viking are not impacted by this program; your pay arrangements will continue as before.

The SEAWire program is very simple. Every month, instead of receiving your paycheck in USD on the ship, your wages will instead be deposited directly into your personal bank account in the currency that you have specified. If you have specified a currency other than USD, your wages will be converted into the other currency at the foreign exchange rate that applies on the date the payment is deposited into your bank account. The wages for each month will generally be deposited within the first 10 days of the next month.

Eurpay Option

The company has developed a Euro-based payroll option for SEA employees effective April 1, 2008. This one-time payroll conversion option, which is available for most SEA officers, will allow eligible officers to have their pay calculated in Euros going forward. Consequently, if an officer lives in a Euro country or believes the Euro is more likely to stay in line with their home currency, they can exercise this option. The details of this program are explained in the Questions and Answers section. The Euro Pay Option is completely voluntary.
